[Herald Economy=Reporter Kim Yujin] Brooklyn Beckham, the son of the English football star David Beckham, is facing criticism for revealing a picture of his pet dog dyed all over the body, raising concerns of ‘animal abuse’.
Recently, Brooklyn Beckham posted a TikTok video with his wife Nicola Peltz. In the video, their pet dog is seen with its fur dyed pink all over the body, including orange-dyed ears and legs.
Upon seeing the photo, netizens expressed concerns about dyeing procedures that can worsen a dog’s health by causing bacterial infections. Unlike human skin which is slightly acidic, a dog’s skin is closer to neutral, making them more vulnerable to bacterial infections. Even with mild dye, chemicals can easily penetrate, and due to dogs’ tendency to lick their fur, they are exposed to toxins doubly.
Some animal protection organizations oppose pet dyeing for these reasons. They argue that animals are not toys or accessories, and dyeing fur is considered a form of animal abuse, similar to cosmetic procedures like trimming a dog’s ears or tail for grooming purposes.
