“Armed with a Weapon at a Woman’s House” – UN’s Choi Jung-won Sent to Prosecution on Stalking Charges

Former UN member and actor Choi Jung-won, who was investigated by the police for allegations of stalking, has been transferred to the prosecution. According to News1 on the 12th, the Seoul Jungbu Police Station forwarded Choi Jung-won to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office on charges of violating the Stalking Punishment Act. Choi is accused of repeatedly visiting the home of a woman who had broken up with him.

Choi faced police investigation in August on charges of threatening behavior after visiting his ex-girlfriend’s house following her decision to end the relationship. Consequently, the Seoul Jungbu Police Station booked him on stalking charges and imposed measures to prevent him from approaching the victim. Two days later, the Seoul Central District Court accepted a restraining order, prohibiting Choi from coming within 100 meters of the victim or making contact.

Choi Jung-won claimed, “This is a mere misunderstanding that arose from a trivial argument between my girlfriend and me.” He asserted, “The allegations that I threatened or stalked her with a weapon are entirely false. Both my girlfriend and I clearly deny these claims.”

Previously, in 2023, Choi was embroiled in rumors of an affair with an acquaintance, leading to public disappointment. The acquaintance’s husband alleged that “Choi Jung-won and my wife had a relationship before marriage,” and claimed, “Our family was torn apart because of Choi,” making headlines.
