(Seoul=News1) Reporter So Bom-i — The paternity test results of a couple in their 40s, where the husband was diagnosed with azoospermia after a vasectomy 14 years ago, have been revealed.
On the October 21 episode of TV Chosun’s ‘Our Little One is Born Again’, a couple in their 40s, married for 21 years, shared their story after the wife became pregnant despite the husband’s azoospermia and subsequently gave birth.
According to the report, the husband had a vasectomy 14 years ago, but his wife became pregnant. She visited a gynecologist for a test because she thought she was entering early menopause, only to find out she was 19 weeks pregnant.
The wife recalled, “I thought I had constipation. My relationship with my husband wasn’t so great. I was shocked to find out I was pregnant five months in.”
Further examination led them to a more shocking discovery that the husband’s vasectomy might have reversed. However, the test showed that he was indeed azoospermic, having zero sperm count.
Professor Baek Jae-seung, an urologist, explained, “It’s impossible to conceive without sperm,” and Song Ji-hong, director of the infertility center, added, “The chances of pregnancy are practically zero.”

The wife internally worried about various things, but they didn’t have major fights despite the husband’s doubts. She said, “We seemed to hold back our words, but after 2-3 days, it was okay.”
Fortunately, both families knew that vasectomy doesn’t rule out the possibility of having a child, and they supported the wife.
The husband, who works as a swine inseminator, even tested his sperm himself but found none. He confessed, “It felt like being hit on the head with a hammer. It was the biggest crisis in our 21 years of marriage.”
The husband’s suspicions were cleared when they determined the ‘implantation period.’
He said, “When we went to the hospital and asked when the baby was conceived, they said between January 5 and 13. When I heard the date, I became 100% certain it wasn’t suspicious,” as they had travelled to Gangneung on their wedding anniversary, January 8.
Two weeks later, the wife safely gave birth via cesarean section. The genetic test conducted in front of family confirmed the husband as the father with ‘99.9997% paternity’, presenting a miraculous conclusion.
