Actor Lee Yi-kyung has fully refuted claims by a non-celebrity identified as A that he sent obscene messages, yet his social media is flooded with negative comments. On the 21st, his Instagram account received numerous hurtful comments such as, “Is it really true? If so, I’m truly disappointed,” “A celebrity’s image is everything,” “Did you send a photo before posting this?” and “Disgusting.”
On the other hand, comments supporting Lee Yi-kyung, such as “It’s not even clear yet, and you’re leaving negative comments,” “I’m neutral,” and “I support the actor,” are also numerous.
Recently, A posted a blog entry titled “Exposing Lee Yi-kyung’s True Colors.” The post included screenshots of alleged KakaoTalk and Instagram DMs with someone purported to be Lee Yi-kyung. The messages reportedly included requests for explicit photos, insults, sexual harassment, and obscene language, causing shock.
On the 20th, a representative from Lee Yi-kyung’s agency Sangyeong ENT told Star News, “The online posts about Lee Yi-kyung’s personal life are completely false.” The representative explained that “the poster had emailed our company months ago, stitching together the same post and demanding money while making threats. The poster later admitted to the falsehood and sent an apology email but has now posted false content online again.”
As A’s post spread widely, triggering controversy, Sangyeong ENT declared, “We are preparing legal actions against the false information and malicious rumors circulating in online communities and SNS. Given the seriousness of this issue, we plan to take all necessary measures by calculating the direct and indirect damages caused by the spread of false information.”
Furthermore, “both the creation and indiscriminate distribution of such content are subject to legal action. We ask for caution to prevent unnecessary harm,” they stated, adding, “We will do our utmost to protect our artist, relying on both the tips provided by fans and our internal monitoring.”
Despite the agency’s clarification, A wrote on their blog, “Suddenly there’s talk of me asking for money, which I hear for the first time. I did ask once if I could get money. There was a financial issue, and I couldn’t ask my parents, so I inquired. I’ve never received money, and it was such an uncomfortable situation that I never asked again after.” They continued, “The post I made yesterday wasn’t to ask for money, but to prevent other women from experiencing this.”
Regarding the somewhat awkward sentence structure, the poster said, “I’ve been self-studying Korean for 8 years and have never learned from books or classes, so that’s why. I’m not a fraud, I’m genuinely German. I wish my personal life wouldn’t be meddled with. I didn’t expect this issue to escalate like this.”
