Samsung Life, Samsung Fire & Marine, and Samsung Card, the financial subsidiaries of Samsung, announced their regular executive appointments for 2025 on the 3rd.
Samsung Life promoted a total of 8 people, including 2 vice presidents and 6 directors. The new Vice President Park Hae-gwan, born in 1971, joined Samsung Life in 1994 and has served as the Head of Strategy 1 Support Team, Head of FC Support Team, and Head of GA Business Division. Vice President Lee Jong-hoon, also born in 1971, started his career at Samsung Fire & Marine in 1998 and held positions such as General Insurance Support Team Leader and Management Support Team Leader. Last year, he worked as an executive director in charge of the Financial Competitiveness Enhancement Task Force at Samsung Life.
According to Samsung Life, the focus of this appointment was on selecting individuals who can maximize the value of insurance and implement future business models, based on a comprehensive assessment of performance and growth potential, irrespective of their age and tenure, thus accelerating innovation.
A Samsung Life representative stated, “We expect to strengthen the growth engines of future new businesses such as artificial intelligence, senior business, and healthcare, in addition to the core insurance business,” and noted, “We will soon conduct organizational restructuring and personnel appointments.”
Samsung Fire & Marine also promoted 11 people, including 4 vice presidents and 7 directors. New Vice President Go Ki-ho, born in 1972, served as the Head of Management Control Division and Head of Digital Promotion Team before becoming Head of Digital Division from 2023. New Vice President Park Min-jae, born in 1970, served as Head of Samsung Asset Management’s LDI Management Division and Head of Management Support Office before working as Head of Strategic Investment Division at Samsung Life this year. New Vice President Bang Dae-won, born in 1971, has been serving as an executive in charge of Samsung Fire & Marine’s HR team. New Vice President Lee Sang-dong, born in 1969, has been leading Samsung Fire & Marine’s Auto Compensation Planning Team since 2022.
A Samsung Fire & Marine representative explained, “This executive appointment focused on selecting talent to lead future growth fields such as global, healthcare, and mobility businesses by considering not only expertise and work capabilities but also challenging mindset and execution ability,” further stating, “We boldly appointed a female executive with a high school diploma, prioritizing performance and capabilities over academic background and gender.”
Following the regular executive appointments, Samsung Life and Samsung Fire & Marine are expected to announce organizational restructuring and personnel appointments soon.
Samsung Card, implementing its regular executive appointments, appointed Kim Dae-soon, Head of Risk Management, as Vice President. Additionally, Samsung Card promoted a total of 4 people, including Directors Kim Do-heon, Yoo Sang-il, and Han Sang-min.
Samsung Card stated, “Following the performance-based personnel philosophy, this executive appointment focused on selecting outstanding performers with excellent growth potential, regardless of seniority, while establishing a future growth foundation based on digital and data innovation and securing sustainable competitiveness.”
