, ‘[Herald Economy=Reporter Kim Hyun-il] Samsung Electronics is stepping up efforts to strengthen the AI and computer engineering (CE) talent pool in the domestic field to enhance the future semiconductor research ecosystem based on AI technology.’,
,
, ‘Samsung SAIT (formerly Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology) announced on the 29th that it will host the ‘Samsung AI/CE Challenge 2024′ targeting domestic undergraduate and graduate students for about six weeks from the 1st of next month to September 13th. Students who wish to participate can apply on the SAIT website with the results to be announced in early October.’,
,
, ‘The Samsung AI/CE Challenge, now in its 4th year starting in 2021, is an idea contest for cultivating and supporting science and technology talent. It will be conducted with a total of three themes in AI and CE fields.’,
,
, ‘A total of 12 teams including winners in each category will be selected. The best team in each category will be awarded 10 million won, the excellent team 5 million won, and two encouragement teams 3 million won each. The awards ceremony will be held at the ‘Samsung AI Forum’ in November. The ‘Samsung AI Forum’ is a platform for technical exchange where world-renowned scholars in the AI and CE fields gather to share the latest research trends and explore future innovation strategies.’,
,
, ‘All winners will have the opportunity to participate in the ‘AI/CE Challenge Camp’ hosted by Samsung SAIT, where they can network with other award-winning teams and receive mentoring from SAIT AI/CE research leaders.’,
,
, ‘Through this contest, SAIT plans to find ideas for developing machine learning algorithms for semiconductor component and process development using AI, and further enhance Korea’s competitiveness in next-generation semiconductor research and development.’,
,
, ‘The themes for this year’s challenge are in the AI field ▷Developing a model-based black-box optimization algorithm ▷Developing a precise and reliable machine learning model for semiconductor material simulation, and in the CE field ▷Optimizing inference of giant language models (LLM) in on-device systems, totaling three themes.’,
,
, ‘Students who participate will develop the best AI algorithm using given problems and datasets in the AI field, and in the CE field, they will explore ways to minimize inference time and improve accuracy using limited hardware resources for LLM in on-device systems.’,
,
, ‘Sunghyun Kye, President of Samsung SAIT, said, “AI technology is rapidly expanding its scope even within the semiconductor industry, and SAIT is leading efforts to overcome limits and strive for new technological research.” He announced, “Through the AI/CE Challenge, we expect the participation of many outstanding students to obtain new ideas that can surpass the limits of future technology.”‘,
,
, ‘Meanwhile, Samsung SAIT is expanding cooperation with AI experts worldwide to strengthen AI research. They are researching fundamental innovative technologies in the AI field at the Mila Research Institute building in Montreal, Canada, as the first Korean company to enter in 2019.’,
