Hyundai Motor Group has announced a record-high domestic investment of 24.3 trillion KRW for this year, marking a 19% increase from last year. This investment aims to enhance the group’s future competitiveness in areas like electrification and software-defined vehicles (SDVs) amidst uncertain internal and external conditions.

During the 2025 New Year ceremony, Chairman Chung Eui-sun emphasized the importance of continuous transformation, innovation, and crisis resilience. This large-scale investment is seen as a strategic move to fortify competitiveness in the future mobility sector despite uncertain conditions.

The investment is divided into 11.5 trillion KRW for research and development, 12 trillion KRW for capital spending, and 8000 billion KRW for strategic investments. This will focus on developing next-generation products and technologies, accelerating electrification, and advancing SDV initiatives.

Hyundai plans to expand its electric vehicle (EV) lineup by 2030 to include 21 models across various categories, and Kia aims to establish a full lineup of 15 EV models by 2027. The group will also invest in building dedicated EV manufacturing facilities, including a new plant in Ulsan by 2026.

Strategic investments will target areas like autonomous driving, software, and artificial intelligence to enhance future business competitiveness. Hyundai Motor Group also plans to construct a hyper-casting plant in Ulsan to improve EV production capabilities.

Additionally, 8 trillion KRW will be invested in sectors such as components, steel, construction, and finance to explore new businesses and bolster core competitiveness. This includes efforts in eco-friendly energy, IT system improvements, and green logistics.
