LS Marine Solution’s First Offshore Wind Construction… Set to Become the Largest Offshore Wind Farm by 2035
LS Marine Solution, a company involved in offshore wind projects, recently announced the completion of the submarine cable installation for the Jeonnam Offshore Wind Farm Phase 1. This marks the company’s first venture into offshore wind construction, highlighting its technical proficiency and reliability in the Korean offshore wind market.
Located in Sinan County, Jeonnam, the Jeonnam Offshore Wind Farm Phase 1 has a total power capacity of 96 megawatts (MW). It is set to undergo a trial run next March before starting commercial production. The facility aims to expand to 8.2 gigawatts (GW) by 2035, potentially making it the world’s largest offshore wind farm.
LS Marine Solution has expressed plans to pursue further projects, including the Jeonnam Offshore Wind Farms Phases 2 and 3, and is actively exploring opportunities to expand into global markets such as Taiwan. The company is committed to sustainable growth, leveraging its expertise in the longest submarine cable installations in Korea.
Recently, LS Marine Solution, in partnership with LS Cable & System, was selected as the preferred supplier for submarine cables for the 500 MW-scale Chungnam Taean Offshore Wind Farm. In a bid to bolster its competitive edge in offshore wind, LS Marine Solution is also working on a Service Operation Vessel (SOV) project to support these endeavors.
