LG Electronics will be the first in the industry to launch the dedicated ‘LG Easy TV’ for seniors in Korea. It features customized functions like notifying of medication times and requesting help in emergencies through a remote control help button.

LG Electronics unveiled the LG Easy TV on the morning of the 25th at the LG Twin Tower in Yeouido, Seoul. The development of this senior-specific TV initiated upon realizing that over 70% of TV-related inquiries from senior customers to the service center were about ‘difficulty in operating the TV.’ The LG Easy TV integrates senior-friendly features reflecting customer feedback, such as an easy-to-view home screen, redesigned remote control, built-in camera, video calls, and medication reminders.

The home screen has been simplified to focus on five senior-specific functions and favorite apps. The entire menu is displayed prominently at the bottom, making it easy to use, and the text size has been substantially increased for better readability. The button size on the Easy TV’s dedicated remote has been enlarged by up to 30% compared to previous models, with a backlight for better visibility in dark environments. A ‘Help’ button was also added. This button allows users to easily revert to the previous broadcast if the screen doesn’t display due to an unintended input switch or accidental app launch.

Notably, LG Easy TV features the ‘LG Buddy’ function, developed in collaboration with KakaoTalk, to offer various dedicated services. Connected family members can send photos, videos, and YouTube links to the Easy TV. They can also control the TV remotely, assisting parents by changing external inputs or switching on/off functions if needed. In emergencies, users can send a help request message to family via KakaoTalk using the remote control help button. Moreover, the TV provides ‘lifestyle reminders’ for tasks like taking medication or watering plants, along with entertainment services like brain health games for senior users.

The LG Easy TV will be available on the 29th, priced at 2,769,000 KRW for the 65-inch model and 3,869,000 KRW for the 75-inch model.
