[The Herald Economy=Kwon Je-in] Kumho Tire announced on the 5th that it had entered into a partnership with Ansible Motion, a UK-based driving simulator company, to develop next-generation digital tires at the end of last year.

The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Young-jin, Executive Vice President and Head of Kumho Tire’s Research and Development, Dan Clark, CEO of Ansible Motion, and other officials from both sides.

This partnership, under the slogan ‘Kumho Tire with Ansible Motion: Driving the Future with Digital Tires’, aims to enhance the tire performance verification system using advanced digital simulation technology and strengthen competitive ability in developing tires for electric vehicles (EVs) and high-performance vehicles.

Ansible Motion is a global specialist company possessing driving simulator technology that precisely replicates real road driving environments, offering solutions to verify various driving characteristics such as vehicle dynamics, driving safety, and ride quality in a virtual environment.

By integrating Ansible Motion’s latest driving simulator into its R&D process, Kumho Tire expects to reduce the time and cost of actual vehicle tests and prototype production, enabling more precise and efficient performance verification from the early stages of development. This strategy aims to promptly respond to the rapidly changing mobility environment and further strengthen its digital R&D capabilities.

Executive Vice President Kim Young-jin said, “The collaboration with Ansible Motion will serve as an opportunity to advance Kumho Tire’s R&D paradigm to a digital focus,” adding, “We will actively utilize advanced simulation technology to present high-performance, high-value-added products optimized for the future mobility environment, and continuously enhance our competitiveness in the global market.”

CEO Dan Clark stated, “The collaboration with Kumho Tire is an important example of driving simulation technology accelerating innovation in the tire industry,” expressing his anticipation that “the technological synergy between our companies will contribute to the development of the global mobility industry.”

Meanwhile, the partnership is part of Kumho Tire’s strategy to transform digitally and pursue sustainable technological innovation. The company plans to apply advanced driving simulation technology throughout its R&D process to further enhance development efficiency and precision. Through this, it aims to accelerate the development of next-generation digital tires and secure differentiated technical competitiveness in the electric vehicle and high-performance tire sectors.
