In the article, it is mentioned that the three major domestic battery companies, LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI, and SK On, will participate in the country’s largest battery exhibition, ‘InterBattery 2025’, which will take place from the 5th to the 7th of next month at COEX in Seoul. They will be unveiling their innovative technologies and products.

LG Energy Solution plans to introduce its next-generation cylindrical battery, the ‘46 series’, for the first time at InterBattery 2025. The 46 series is a cylindrical battery with a diameter of 46 mm, which significantly enhances energy and output by at least five times compared to the existing 2170 (21 mm diameter, 70 mm height) batteries, positioning it as a next-generation battery. LG Energy Solution has released a teaser video for the 46 series on its official YouTube and LinkedIn channels.

Additionally, LG Energy Solution will display a solar mobility vehicle from the U.S. solar electric vehicle startup ‘Aptera Motors,’ which will be equipped with its batteries.

Samsung SDI is set to showcase its ‘No-TP’ (No Thermal Propagation) technology at InterBattery 2025. This technology involves safety materials installed between cells that physically block the spread of heat if a problem arises in a particular cell of a battery product. Samsung SDI’s proprietary thermal propagation performance prediction program (TPc) enables optimal structural design to prevent thermal propagation from the product planning stage.

Samsung SDI will also discuss the development status of its ‘all-solid-state battery’ (ASB), known as the “dream battery.” Samsung SDI, targeting commercialization of the all-solid-state battery by 2027, supplied samples to multiple customers at the end of last year for assessments.

SK On will present all three major battery form factors: pouch type, prismatic type, and cylindrical type, aiming to target a wide range of customers. Notably, SK On is revealing a cylindrical actual model at InterBattery 2025 for the first time. SK On completed a cylindrical pilot line in the second half of last year, accelerating its research and development efforts.

Furthermore, SK On will introduce the highly regarded high-voltage mid-nickel battery. Mid-nickel batteries contain 50-70% nickel content within nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) batteries, offering strong price competitiveness and gaining attention amid the slowing demand for electric vehicles.
