Jung Eui-sun visits Singapore’s innovation hub to encourage efforts, saying “The best moment is yet to come.”

Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Euisun Chung held a town hall meeting for approximately 300 employees on December 12 at the ‘Hyundai Motor Group Singapore Global Innovation Center (HMGICS)’, marking the one-year anniversary of the smart factory’s completion. Chairman Chung expressed his gratitude to the employees for their passion and achievements over the past year and mentioned that more challenges await in the coming year, which can be overcome with talented individuals like them.

During the meeting, Chairman Chung shared his admiration for the innovations and breakthroughs achieved together and emphasized that though the journey has been excellent so far, the greatest moments are yet to come. He highlighted the need for an innovative platform to address future mobility needs, which led to the conceptualization of HMGICS in 2018 as a testbed for agile growth and collaboration within the group.

HMGICS, completed in November of last year, is a smart factory located in the Jurong Innovation District in western Singapore. It manufactures the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and autonomous robo-taxis using an intelligent and automated manufacturing platform that supports a flexible production system for a variety of models.

Additionally, Chairman Chung encouraged the employees aspiring to become future leaders by emphasizing the importance of curiosity and active listening. He also reiterated the vision of ‘progress for humanity’ that the group strives for.

Hyundai Motor President Jang Jae-hoon, who attended the meeting, described HMGICS as a hub for validating technologies in mobility, SDF, and energy sectors. He stressed the importance of developing key technologies for future factories, such as AI, robotics, and automation, which will serve as valuable assets for smart factory setups across Hyundai’s global manufacturing sites.

The town hall meeting aimed to foster open communication and exploration of innovative business ideas and technologies to revolutionize future mobility through the HMGICS open innovation hub for a sustainable mobility ecosystem.
