Hyundai Motor Group Partners with Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research for Future Mobility and Advanced Technology Collaboration

Hyundai Motor Group is set to collaborate with the Singaporean government to advance global high-tech cooperation in future mobility innovation. On November 2nd, Hyundai Motor Group announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for innovative technology cooperation based on mobility collaboration with the Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) of Singapore. This was formalized at the ‘K-Tech Showcase’ event held at Gyeongju Expo Grand Park during the ‘2025 APEC Summit’ week.

Established in 2019 under the Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs, HTX is a research institution aimed at enhancing security through the development of scientific and technological capabilities. The agency engages in research and development across various advanced technology fields and promotes global cooperation.

Through this MOU, Hyundai Motor Group and HTX will conduct technology demonstrations on fleet vehicles operated by the Singaporean government. They intend to explore the potential for joint research and application across future core technologies, including robotics and hydrogen.

As part of these efforts, Hyundai will implement a multi-purpose modular electrification platform demonstration project by the end of 2028 to enhance the efficiency of the vehicle operation system of the Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs. This will be the first technology demonstration targeting the Singapore government’s fleet.

The Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs had previously faced challenges due to overly dispersed platforms and difficulties in altering vehicle designs for various uses. To address this, Hyundai plans to propose a solution based on Kia’s Purpose-Built Vehicle (PBV) with modular architecture and innovative body design technologies. The goal is to integrate these technologies into the fleet platform and offer a comprehensive mobility solution that allows versatile application.

Moreover, this demonstration project aligns with the Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs’ electric vehicle transition policy and is expected to contribute to building a sustainable transportation infrastructure in Singapore. Hyundai plans to provide support and directly supply operational vehicles through a three-party collaboration with HMGICS and HTX.

Kim Il-bum, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Group GPO, stated that the company has established a foundation to substantially implement public mobility innovation through this cooperation with the Singaporean government. He emphasized their commitment to leading global innovation with future technologies such as robotics and hydrogen.

Additionally, Hyundai Motor Group has identified Singapore as the optimal location for realizing a human-centered ‘smart urban mobility hub.’ Building on the establishment of the Hyundai Motor Group Singapore Global Innovation Center (HMGICS) in 2023, they have been working closely with local universities, governmental research institutions, companies, and global partners to foster collaborative relationships.
