Hoban Construction has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Seoul Metropolitan Government on January 27th at Seoul City Hall to create a “Corporate Companion Garden.” This project aims to embody a company’s management philosophy and social contribution values through a public garden space.
According to the agreement, Hoban Construction will establish the Corporate Companion Garden at the Seoul Forest lawn plaza in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. The theme is “the aesthetics of coexistence,” where trees and various garden elements harmoniously blend while respecting each other’s areas. This initiative seeks to participate in carbon neutrality efforts, address climate change, and share Hoban Group’s philosophy of harmonizing nature, people, architecture, and life with citizens.
The newly created garden will be unveiled at the “2026 Seoul International Garden Expo,” which opens on May 1st in Seoul Forest, and will continue to be used as a space for improving citizens’ quality of life and emotional well-being even after the event.
Byun Boo-Seop, head of Hoban Construction’s Construction Safety Division, expressed his hope that the company’s social responsibility would be realized in urban green spaces, bringing more nature and rest into the daily lives of citizens. He expects the Corporate Companion Garden to become a symbolic space contributing to a sustainable urban environment.
Kim Young-Hwan, Director General of the Garden City Bureau of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, noted that when a company’s social contributions are connected to public assets like gardens, it enriches citizens’ daily lives with more rest and greenery. He promised meticulous preparation to ensure that the garden built with Hoban Construction in Seoul Forest would be a beloved spot even after the expo concludes.
