In December, the housing business sentiment index for the Gwangju and Jeollanam-do regions has worsened compared to the previous month. According to the results of the “December Housing Business Sentiment Index” survey conducted by the Housing Industry Research Institute targeting housing businesses on the 12th, Gwangju’s index fell by 4.2 points to 80.0 from 84.2 last month. Jeollanam-do also dropped to 64.2, down 2.4 points from 66.6 the previous month.
The housing business sentiment index for Jeollanam-do is the fourth lowest in the country, following Gangwon (54.5), Chungbuk (63.6), and Incheon (64.7).
The Housing Industry Research Institute analyzed that “non-metropolitan areas have relatively lower expectations for economic recovery compared to metropolitan areas, resulting in a smaller increase in the housing business sentiment index until last month,” and that “as a result, they seem to have been less affected by events such as the U.S. presidential election compared to metropolitan areas.”
