“Exodus from Coupang Continues: User Count Drops by 2.04 Million in Five Days”

“On December 9, at Coupang’s headquarters in Seoul. December 9, 2025, Yonhap News.

The number of users of Coupang, which experienced a large-scale personal information leakage incident, has declined for five consecutive days.

According to data from the tech company IGAWorks’ Mobile Index on the 9th, Coupang’s daily active users (DAU) as of the 6th were recorded at 15.94 million.

This is a decrease of over 2.04 million from the record-high daily users on the 1st, which was 17.98 million.

The number of Coupang’s daily users dropping to 15 million is the first time in eight days since November 28. The number of Coupang users increased after the large-scale personal information leak was revealed on November 29, peaked on the 1st, and has been decreasing since. On the 4th, there were around 16.95 million users, and on the 5th, around 16.17 million.

It is interpreted that after the personal information leak incident, consumers temporarily increased usage of the Coupang app to check passwords or find sign-out methods, and then the exodus of consumers continued.

Meanwhile, other major domestic e-commerce companies, including Gmarket, saw a slight increase in users but then stabilized.

The number of Gmarket daily users rose from 1.36 million on the 29th of last month to 1.7 million on the 3rd, but then slightly decreased to around 1.4 million as of the 6th. 11st and Naver Plus Store also saw temporary increases in users in early December, but as of the 6th, user numbers returned to levels prior to November 30.”
