Asiana Airlines has announced the resumption of its Incheon-Kumamoto route with a commemorative event at Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 on the 7th, as reported by Kim Sung-woo of the Herald Economy. This route is being reintroduced after 8 years and 7 months, with flights operating three times a week starting today. Reflecting high demand, Asiana plans to increase the frequency to four times a week starting January 13 next year.
Attendees at the event included Lim Sun-jin, Head of Passenger Service at Asiana Airlines; Kim Chang-kyu, Head of Future Business at Incheon International Airport Corporation; Hideaki Yamakawa, President of Kumamoto Airport; and Yoshiyuki Tominaga, Head of the Planning and Promotion Department of Kumamoto Prefecture, along with other officials from both countries.
Lim Sun-jin commented, “The resumption of flights is expected to enhance travel convenience for customers visiting Kumamoto, known for Mount Aso and Kurokawa Onsen, during the winter season. The participation of Kumamoto Prefecture and airport officials adds significance to this event, and we hope to continue positive cooperative relations with Kumamoto Prefecture.”
From the 7th to the 30th, Asiana Airlines is also offering a ‘Hot Springs & Light Festival’ promotion, providing a 5% discount coupon for economy class tickets on selected routes from Incheon and Gimpo to Japan, including the Kumamoto route. The coupon is available to Asiana Club members purchasing tickets through the Asiana Airlines website or mobile app.
Additionally, Asiana Airlines plans to launch a new Incheon-Asahikawa route with four weekly flights starting December 19, recognizing the popularity of Asahikawa as a winter tourist destination in Japan.
