“Wife Arrested and Charged with Murdering Husband, a ‘Real Estate Instructor,’ over Liquor Price Dispute”

A woman in her 50s has been indicted for allegedly murdering her husband, a renowned lecturer in the “Real Estate Public Law” field. According to the Pyeongtaek branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office, A (55, female) was formally charged and detained on murder charges on the 18th, as announced on the 21st.

The prosecution stated that A is accused of killing her husband, B (in his 50s), by repeatedly striking his head with a liquor bottle at their apartment in Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi Province, around 3 a.m. on February 15th. B sustained severe head injuries from A’s actions and was transferred to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries approximately 11 hours later, around 2 p.m. the same day.

After committing the crime, A voluntarily called 112 to report the incident and was subsequently arrested. During the investigation, A claimed that she acted impulsively after being threatened with a kitchen knife during an argument with her husband.

However, the prosecution uncovered through additional analysis of electronic information from a mobile phone and forensic consultation that A committed the crime while B was lying down. The prosecution has thus determined that A’s claim does not align with the factual truth.

A prosecution official stated, “To ensure that the victim and their family do not experience any injustice, we have clarified the full scope of the crime and the falsehood of the defendant’s claims using scientific investigative techniques.” They added, “We will also strive to protect and support the bereaved family. Additionally, we are committed to ensuring that the defendant receives a severe sentence commensurate with her crime and will diligently maintain the prosecution. We will do our utmost to protect citizens’ lives and safety by rigorously responding to crimes that violate the fundamental right to life.”
