“Why are you lying?”… A woman in her 30s suddenly stabs a security guard at Ajou University Hospital

A woman in her 30s was arrested for wielding a weapon against a security guard in the lobby of a university hospital. According to the Suwon Nambu Police Station, suspect A was detained on the charge of attempted murder for allegedly attacking a security guard, Mr. B, in his 40s, with a knife at the lobby of Ajou University Hospital located in Yeongtong District, Suwon City, at around 8:50 PM the previous day.

Mr. B sustained injuries to his head and arm and was taken to the hospital for treatment. It was reported that his injuries are not life-threatening. The police, responding to a report, arrived on the scene and arrested A. At the time of arrest, A was not intoxicated.

A and Mr. B did not know each other prior to the incident. A initially visited the hospital to confirm whether an acquaintance was admitted there. A asked Mr. B several times whether her acquaintance was hospitalized, and when Mr. B replied that no such person was there, A took out a knife and committed the assault.

During the police investigation, A stated that she acted out of anger because she thought Mr. B was lying. Upon verification with the hospital, it was confirmed that the acquaintance A was looking for was not admitted there. The police plan to investigate the detailed circumstances of the incident and consider whether to apply for an arrest warrant for A.
