‘Unauthorized Use of Corporation’s Symbol on Event Envelopes and Products Confirmed… Advice to Contact Customer Service If Suspected’
“Recently, the National Health Insurance Corporation (NHIC) identified that some companies have been using the corporation’s symbolic system (CI) on ‘event envelopes and products’ without permission. NHIC has begun asking those companies to correct their actions.”
“The corporation is concerned that this incident could lead to secondary damage, such as phishing scams impersonating the corporation, beyond a simple trademark infringement. They urge the public to verify whether any product or document marked with the NHIC’s CI or name has actually been issued by the corporation. If in doubt, individuals are advised to contact their website or customer service.”
An NHIC representative stated, “Unauthorized use or misuse of the corporation’s CI is a serious illegal act that undermines public trust. Going forward, we plan to strictly respond to any use of the corporation’s CI without proper approval and will strengthen monitoring to prevent recurrence. In case of damages caused by unauthorized use, we will resolutely respond by requesting an investigation from relevant authorities.”
