The Emergency Committee of the Korean Medical Association (KMA) states, “The Medical Policy Consultation Body is just for show… Medical groups should leave.”

The Korean Medical Association’s Emergency Response Committee has requested that the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences and the Medical Students Association withdraw from the Yeouijeong consultative body.

At their second meeting last night, the Emergency Response Committee claimed that the Yeouijeong consultative body only serves as a facade and called for their withdrawal.

Additionally, they criticized People’s Power party leader Han Dong-hoon for claiming the consultative body would resolve the medical crisis while personally not attending the meetings and instead supporting the establishment of a new national medical school in North Gyeongsang Province, questioning his sincerity in solving the issue.

They also argued that the Presidential Commission for Medical Reform is merely a puppet committee unilaterally formed by the government, incapable of resolving the essential medical crisis.

The Emergency Response Committee further criticized the government, claiming it has cornered essential medical workers, citing an incident where Daegu Catholic University Hospital was unable to treat a patient with occipital edema yet was penalized for refusing emergency care.
