‘Herald Economy = Lee Gwon-hyung Reporter] To promote garden culture and nurture the garden industry, the ‘2025 Daejeon Garden Expo’, jointly hosted and organized by the city of Daejeon, Seo-gu, and the Daejeon Forestry Association, will be held for the first time from the 24th to the 26th for three days at Hanbat Arboretum (Expo Citizens Square).’
This expo, themed ‘Creating a First-Class Garden City Daejeon with Citizens’, is expected to be a venue to share the vision of a garden city with citizens through a variety of content including garden exhibitions, garden industry exhibitions, cultural programs, and side events.
The opening ceremony will take place on the 24th from 5 PM to 7 PM, starting with a classical guitar ensemble pre-performance, followed by welcoming and congratulatory speeches, an awards ceremony for the garden design contest, a promotional video screening for Garden City Daejeon, and the opening performance and commemorative photo session.
The main event at Hanbat Arboretum’s circular lawn plaza, Seowon lawn plaza, central Metasequoia Road, and Expo Citizens Square will feature a total of 23 garden exhibitions, including 3 artist gardens, 10 company gardens, 5 citizen gardens, and 5 student gardens, allowing citizens to personally view various themed gardens.
Additionally, the industry exhibition for the development of the garden industry will have booths from 42 companies related to garden materials and facilities, providing opportunities to experience the latest trends and technologies in the garden industry through the companies’ exhibition products.
Moreover, various gardening experience programs will be provided, such as a mobile companion plant clinic operated by the Korea Arboretum & Garden Management Institute, as well as carnivorous plant experiences, cuttage experiences, and carbon-neutral pot-making, allowing people of all ages to easily experience garden culture.
As for side events, there will be daily shows and programs, such as a garden concert, garden talk show, plant auction, bubble magic show, and the “Delight in Daejeon” busking performances, enhancing the atmosphere of the event.
Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo stated, “Gardens are important cultural assets that elevate the dignity of the city and the quality of life for its citizens, beyond simply being spaces for nurturing plants. Through this expo, we aim to develop Daejeon into a first-class garden city and continue efforts to allow all citizens to enjoy rest and healing within gardens.”
