**Former KTV Director Investigated for Alleged Plans of Martial Law Broadcast**
(Seoul = News1) Reporter Song Song-i = The special investigation team probing allegations of rebellion and treason related to the December 3 martial law (Special Prosecutor Cho Eun-seok) summoned Lee Eun-woo, former director of the Korea Policy Broadcasting Center (KTV), on the 24th for questioning as a suspect.
According to the legal community on the 24th, the special investigation team has been questioning Director Lee since 10 a.m. on charges including rebellion propaganda.
Director Lee is suspected of having received plans for the declaration of martial law in advance on December 3 last year and preparing for a live broadcast.
It is reported that KTV received a request to prepare a live broadcast from an administrative officer of the Presidential Office’s External Cooperation Office at around 5:52 p.m. on the day the martial law was declared.
Subsequently, KTV’s editorial team leader instructed the preparation of special news coverage at around 7:14 p.m., and Director Lee received a report on the relevant situation via text message at 7:33 p.m.
The statement on the martial law declaration by former President Yoon Seok-yeol was broadcast live to all broadcasting stations through KTV’s exclusive network at 10:23 p.m.
The special investigation team is also looking into allegations that Director Lee ordered the deletion of subtitles from KTV’s news broadcast on the day of the martial law, which recorded politicians’ statements highlighting the unconstitutionality and illegality of the martial law, allowing only former President Yoon’s statement to be repeatedly broadcast.
Previously, the special investigation team had seized and secured work-related PC data during a search of Director Lee’s residence and KTV’s director’s office in Sejong last month on the 16th.
