The city of Yongin has announced on the 22nd that it has granted final approval and public notice for the 9th amendment to the industrial complex plan for the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster General Industrial Complex, which is being developed in Wonsam-myeon, Cheoin-gu, Yongin Special City, Gyeonggi Province.
The 9th amendment to the industrial complex plan is intended to support the enhancement of global competitiveness and supply chain stabilization in the semiconductor sector, which is a key strategic industry for the nation. This initiative aims to support the establishment of advanced production facilities and public infrastructure by SK Hynix and its partners.
The main changes include: △ an increase in the floor area ratio and adjustment of height restrictions for the SK Hynix site, △ modification of the industrial complex area, △ changes in land use plans, △ alteration of plans for industry placement, △ and changes in zoning area sizes.
The floor area ratio for SK Hynix’s site (A15) has been increased from the previous 350% to 490%, and the maximum building height has been relaxed from 120 meters to 150 meters. This decision was finalized considering the increase in the height of large-scale advanced equipment in the latest semiconductor processes, following a decision by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport’s Industrial Location Policy Deliberation Committee in July 2024 and final deliberation by the Gyeonggi Provincial Industrial Complex Planning Deliberation Committee in September 2025.
The city promptly proceeded with the approval procedures for this essential change to the industrial complex plan, which is crucial for the creation of advanced fabs.
It is expected that this change will accelerate the development of the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster General Industrial Complex, not only advancing large-scale job creation but also strengthening the virtuous cycle of concentration of material, component, and equipment companies, and regional coexistence and development.
