Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, considered a potential future leader within his party, is set to release a book outlining his five national growth visions. According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 13th, Mayor Oh’s book, titled “It Is Growth Again,” which will be available for pre-order from the 14th, presents five visions for “Restarting Korea” under the theme “Korea Growth Again (KOGA).”
KOGA, a concept recently introduced by Mayor Oh, is reminiscent of U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign slogan “MAGA” (Make America Great Again). Mayor Oh has been promoting messages centering on growth with KOGA.
In his book, Mayor Oh presents his political views with the keyword “accompaniment.” He details five forms of accompaniment: with challenge and achievement, with the disadvantaged, with future generations, with local communities, and with the international society. The book proposes institutional measures to activate incentives, a differentiated subsidy system for those below the basic income level, pension and labor reforms involving future generations, a decentralized constitutional amendment for local autonomy, and security policies aimed at enhancing nuclear potential.
Additionally, the book features a “final debate” between Mayor Oh and Jin Joong-kwon, a special professor at Kwangwoon University. In their conversation, they diagnose the reality Korea faces in 2025, addressing topics such as conflicts between conservatives and progressives, the haves and have-nots, older and younger generations, low birth rates, high aging rates, the tariff storm triggered by Trump, and the North Korean nuclear crisis. They also analyze causes and explore solutions.
