Two employees in charge of Seoul City’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) work are under police investigation for allegedly embezzling related funds to go on overseas trips. According to Seoul City and the police on the 18th, the city recently filed a complaint with the Seoul Namdaemun Police Station against Manager A and employee B, who work under the Global City Policy Office, on charges of embezzlement in office.
They are accused of embezzling unused funds around 50 million won for personal use, such as going on overseas trips or purchasing souvenirs. Previously, the city received internal reports of embezzlement allegations and conducted its own audit, during which they confirmed the misconduct.
It has been reported that these individuals have been suspended from their positions. The International Cooperation Division, where they worked, is known as the department overseeing the city’s international development cooperation projects.
