“Receiving Money from Daejang-dong Operators” Park Young-soo Requests Bail Ahead of First Trial in Appeals Court

Former special prosecutor Park Young-soo, who was released on bail, filed a bail application before the first trial of his appeal after being sentenced to prison in the first trial for receiving bribes from a private developer in Daejang-dong.

Park submitted the bail application to the Seoul High Court’s Criminal Division 1 yesterday (21st). Previously, Park was indicted in 2023 for allegedly receiving a total of 1.9 billion won from private developers in Daejang-dong.

The first trial court found Park guilty of only accepting 300 million won from attorney Nam Wook under the pretext of election funds for the Korean Bar Association president, sentencing him to seven years in prison, imposing a fine of 500 million won, and ordering the confiscation of 150 million won.

Yang Jae-sik, a former special prosecutor who was indicted alongside Park, also filed for bail on the 18th. The court sentenced Yang to five years in prison, a fine of 300 million won, and the confiscation of 150 million won for his role in managing the receipt of bribes by Park.

The first hearing of their appeal trial is scheduled for the 30th.
