President Yoon Suk-yeol did not appear at the scheduled time requested by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials for questioning. On the 25th, the office announced that President Yoon did not appear at the set time of 10 a.m. However, the office stated that it would wait longer for President Yoon to show up. If President Yoon ultimately does not appear, the decision on whether to issue a third appearance request or apply for an arrest warrant will be made as early as the 26th.
Previously, a joint investigation team, composed of the Corruption Investigation Office, the National Investigation Headquarters of the police, and the Ministry of National Defense’s investigation office, notified President Yoon to appear at the government complex in Gwacheon at 10 a.m. as a suspect on charges of being the leader of an insurrection and abuse of power.
An official from the Corruption Investigation Office stated, “In reality, even if the President appears, he would not come alone, right?” and added that they would consider the situation, including the reaction of the attorneys or representatives and whether a letter of appointment is filed.
