The police, investigating the forces behind the violent riot incident at the Seoul Western District Court, have reportedly imposed an exit ban on Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon of the Sarang Jeil Church and six others.
The Security Investigation Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency applied for an exit ban on Pastor Jeon to the Ministry of Justice last June. The exit ban was extended once and is still in effect.
It is reported that, before conducting searches and seizures, the police also recently implemented an exit ban on six individuals, including Shin Hye-shik, the representative of the YouTube channel ‘God’s Choice,’ Son Sang-dae, the operator of ‘Son Sang-dae TV,’ Bae In-kyu, the representative of the New Male Solidarity, and Kim Soo-yeol, the representative of the conservative group ‘Ilpamanpa.’
Pastor Jeon and others are suspected of inciting participants during rallies at Gwanghwamun, which led to the riot incident at the Seoul Western District Court.
On August 5th, the police escalated their investigation by conducting searches and seizures at Pastor Jeon’s residence, their affiliates, and the Sarang Jeil Church, under charges of incitement to trespass in special buildings and obstruct special official duties.
The police plan to analyze the seized materials and will likely summon Pastor Jeon and other key individuals for questioning soon.
