Police execute arrest warrants for Deputy Director Kim Sung-hoon and Director Lee Kwang-woo of the Security Service

On the morning of the 15th, a Seoul Police Agency mobile unit vehicle was deployed around the presidential residence in Hannam-dong. Reporter Jo Joo-hyun reported this.

The Police National Investigation Headquarters’ Emergency Martial Law Special Investigation Team moved to execute arrest warrants for two known hardline leaders within the Presidential Security Service in front of President Yoon Suk Yeol’s residence on the morning of the 15th.

The targets for arrest are Kim Sung-hoon, the Deputy Chief of the Security Service, and Lee Kwang-woo, the Chief of the Security Headquarters. They are classified within the Security Service as part of the “Kim Yong-hyeon-Kim Geon-hee line” and are recognized as loyalists who have been at the forefront of preventing the execution of the arrest warrant for President Yoon. The Seoul Western District Court issued arrest warrants for them the previous day on charges of obstructing the execution of special official duties.

Facing the Security Service in a standoff in front of the residence, the police announced, “We are here to execute the arrest warrants for Deputy Chief Kim Sung-hoon and Chief Lee Kwang-woo” and requested, “Please cooperate to ensure the smooth execution of the warrant, as the court-issued search warrant is for determining the whereabouts of the suspect.”

They continued by broadcasting, “The Security Service should unlock the door and remove the buses and vehicles set up to block the execution of the warrant,” as they attempted to enter.
