The National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency will deploy a special investigation team, consisting of around 1,600 people from regional mobile investigative units and police stations across the country, to carry out a special crackdown on organized crime from tomorrow (4th) until June.
The police plan to focus on cracking down on corporate crimes, including illegal lending involving organized crime, as well as civil crimes such as drug-related offenses and fraud. Additionally, they intend to thoroughly investigate members of the 2030 generation gangsters who flaunt their influence on social media.
Last year, the police apprehended 3,161 gang members, marking a roughly 12% increase in arrests compared to four years ago, and more than tripling the number of gangsters caught for gambling-related crimes.
The police are assuring thorough protection of informants’ identities and are urging the public to actively report organized crime.
