“The Gyeonggi-do has designated the Gwanin-myeon in Pocheonsi as the pilot project target for ‘AI Senior Care Town’ and announced that it will provide various AI care services for elderly people starting from July, including medical visits and digital education.”
“The province is currently promoting the establishment of a non-face-to-face preventive management system using AI through ‘Gyeonggi Elderly AI+Care’. The AI Senior Care Town is a project that concentrates on supporting AI integrated care services in specific areas for the first time in the country.”
“The elderly population in Gwanin-myeon is 1,192, accounting for 47% of the total population. It has the highest proportion of elderly population among the towns and districts in the province. This is about three times higher than the overall elderly population ratio of 16% in Gyeonggi-do.”
“Gwanin-myeon is located in the northernmost part of Gyeonggi-do, adjacent to Yeoncheon-gun and Cheorwon-gun. Although its area is 69.7 square kilometers, which is 1.2 times the size of Anyang-si, there are no private hospitals in the area, making it difficult to access medical services. Apart from community centers, there is no proper care infrastructure in the area, and the closest welfare facility, Pocheon City Elderly Welfare Center, requires a 1-hour drive by car.”
“In the AI Senior Care Town, anyone who is an elderly person can receive AI companion services that check on their well-being once a week through AI Senior Companionship Service. Elderly people can easily receive health diagnosis (AI healthcare) on their smartphones at home and are provided with ‘Always Convenient AI Care’ pilot project with continuous management by matched care managers.”
“Furthermore, they provide a service that connects with Gyeonggi Province Medical Center’s ‘Visiting Care Medical Center,’ where doctors, nurses, and social workers visit homes to provide medical services. They also establish a place for elderly IT happiness called ‘Seniors IT Happiness Center’ to enhance digital literacy through AI experiences and digital education.”
“Welfare Director Heo Seung-beom stated, ‘Establishing an elderly care system incorporating AI technology in response to the rapid increase in the elderly population is one of the key projects of the 8th Gyeonggi Province administration. We will diligently promote the pilot project in Gwanin-myeon, Pocheonsi, so that more Gyeonggi residents can live a healthy and happy life in their homes and local communities, aiming for it to become a national model in the future.'”
