“Magazine Controversy Over ‘Breast Cancer Campaign’ Apologizes After Four Days [Issue Culture]”

The magazine that sparked controversy by hosting a charity event that turned into a celebrity social gathering has finally apologized. The fashion magazine ‘W Korea’ posted an apology on their official website, four days after the event.

The magazine hosted a charity event at a hotel in Seoul last week, claiming it was for raising awareness about breast cancer and gathering donations, but the event was criticized for turning into a lavish celebrity party. In response, the organizers acknowledged the criticisms that the event’s composition and execution were inappropriate compared to the campaign’s original purpose and apologized for any harm caused to breast cancer patients and their families.

Meanwhile, the magazine stated that through this campaign, which marks its 20th anniversary this year, they have donated 1.1 billion KRW over 20 years. However, there are allegations that the actual donations made to the Korea Breast Health Foundation were significantly less.
