Large-scale rally planned in downtown Seoul on Saturday… Police urge “use of public transportation”

On Saturday, the 28th, large-scale rallies and marches are scheduled in downtown Seoul, leading to expected traffic congestion on major roads. According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, demonstrations organized by several groups, including the Resignation Emergency Action and the Liberty Unification Party, are expected to involve tens of thousands of participants, causing traffic disruptions across various areas.

The Resignation Emergency Action plans to hold a rally from Anguk Station to Dongshipjaro Rotary, Gwanghwamun Intersection, and Naejaro Rotary, with a march passing through Ujeongguk-ro and Namdaemun-ro to Myeongdong Station. Meanwhile, the Liberty Unification Party is expected to hold a large rally from Sejong-daero Intersection to Daehanmun.

To facilitate vehicle movement, the police plan to operate variable traffic lanes and deploy around 160 traffic police officers to manage traffic and minimize inconvenience to citizens. A police representative advised using public transport, such as the subway, or checking traffic information in advance if driving is unavoidable, as traffic congestion is expected in areas like Sejong-daero, Sajik-ro, and Yulgok-ro in the city center.

Details on the rally times and locations, as well as traffic situations, can be confirmed via the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s traffic information hotline (☎ 02-700-5000) or the Traffic Information Center website (www.spatic.go.kr).
