Juwangsan 1,000 hectares and Jirisan 200 hectares destroyed… Crackdown on illegal burning strengthened

As wildfires spread in the Yeongnam region, the affected area appears to be increasingly growing. Today, the Ministry of Environment held a meeting, chaired by the minister, to review the response to the wildfires. They assessed the damage in Juwangsan and Jirisan National Parks and began working on countermeasures.

The recent wildfire has resulted in over 1,000 hectares of forest in Juwangsan National Park being burned, and it has been confirmed that 200 hectares have been lost in Jirisan National Park.

In response, the Ministry of Environment has decided to deploy additional firefighting personnel and equipment today, and to increase the discharge from Andong Dam and Seongdeok Dam to support emergency firewater supply until the wildfires are completely extinguished.

Furthermore, to prevent additional wildfires, they will enhance the nationwide collection of agricultural waste and crack down on illegal burning practices.
