【Financial News Jeonju = Reporter Kang In】 The city of Jeonju in North Jeolla Province announced on the 9th that from the first day of the new year, city buses traveling between Jeonju and Wanju’s Bongdong and Yongjin areas will transition to a trunk and feeder system.
This system connects city buses with village buses, where city buses operate to major towns and village buses serve other local areas.
The 21 city bus routes heading to villages in the Bongdong and Yongjin directions will be consolidated into six routes, running to the Bongdong and Yongjin town centers and the Coaru Apartment.
The eight village buses, managed by the Wanju County Facilities Management Corporation, will handle transportation to Wanju villages and major living areas in Bongdong and Yongjin.
Additionally, a new circular route will be established to pass key apartment complexes, schools, and Jeonju Station in Samcheon, Hyoja, and Seoshin-dong. Late-night buses for KTX passengers will also see expanded services.
A representative from Jeonju City explained, “This route restructuring serves as a blueprint for transitioning to a metropolitan transportation system, finalized after consultations and demand analysis between Jeonju City and Wanju County, as well as resident briefings.”
