Jeongeup City to Offer 15% Discount on Jeongeup Love Gift Certificates Starting in September

Monthly Purchase Limit Raised to 1 Million Won, Expanded Usage in Rural Areas – Starting in September, the city of Jeongeup will increase the discount rate on the Jeongeup Love Gift Certificate to 15%, with a monthly purchase limit of 1 million won and a holding limit of 2 million won.

To enhance payment convenience in rural areas where usage was previously limited, some Hanaro Marts and agricultural supply stores have been officially added as places where the certificates can be used.

The strategy aims to increase discount benefits and expand the payment network, easing household burdens and promoting consumption in local shops, traditional markets, and rural areas.

Since its introduction in 2019, the Jeongeup Love Gift Certificate has driven local consumption. With last year’s issuance of 60 billion won quickly exhausted, the city has expanded this year’s issuance to 100 billion won to meet demand.

The enhanced discount and purchase limits will increase perceived benefits for residents. For instance, buying up to the monthly limit of 1 million won saves 150,000 won immediately. If a couple buys 1 million won each, they can save up to 300,000 won on monthly household expenses. Given that the personal holding limit is 2 million won, effectively managing usage and recharging cycles ensures full benefits.

Payment convenience on the ground is also set to improve. Reflecting changes in the guidelines by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and expanded usage criteria for Hanaro Mart, the update considers the realities of rural areas where usage options were previously limited.

Consequently, Jeongeup Love Gift Certificate payments will be possible at Hanaro Marts in nine areas: Ipam, Soseong, Gobu, Yungwon, Gamgok, Ongdong, Chilbo, Sannae, and Sanwa, as well as agricultural supply stores in seven areas: Ipam, Soseong, Deokcheon, Jungwoo, Gamgok, Ongdong, and Sannae. This allows immediate payment with the certificates for daily necessities and agricultural supplies, enhancing convenience in rural living areas.

The purchasing channels remain convenient. Sales start at 8 a.m. on the first day of each month. Mobile certificates can be purchased via the “Local Gift Certificate Chak” app using an automatic recharge method linked to a bank account. Card-type certificates can be issued and recharged at NH Bank, Jeonbuk Bank, Saemaul Geumgo, and credit unions.

Mayor Lee Hak-soo stated, “The Jeongeup Love Gift Certificate is a key policy tool for co-prosperity among citizens and small businesses. Through the increased discount rate, limits, and expanded usage locations, we aim to reduce household burdens and stimulate regional consumption, injecting vitality into the stagnant local economy.”
