A fire that broke out in an electric car parked in an underground parking lot in an apartment in Incheon was extinguished after about 6 hours. 16 residents who inhaled smoke from the fire are receiving treatment at a hospital.
According to the Incheon Fire Department on the 1st, a fire was reported around 6:15 a.m. in the underground parking lot of a 30-story apartment building in Cheongna-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon. It was reported that the fire started in an electric car parked in the underground parking lot. The fire was extinguished by 323 personnel and 80 pieces of equipment 5 hours and 39 minutes later, around 11:54 a.m. on the same day.
The 16 residents who suffered from smoke inhalation due to the fire, including 5 young girls aged 1 to 8, have been transported to the hospital for treatment. It has been confirmed that none of the 16 residents are in critical condition.
Additionally, 32 residents of another apartment were rescued by the fire department, while the remaining 103 residents evacuated following instructions. Property damage occurred to around 70 vehicles parked near the electric car where the fire started.
The Incheon Seo-gu Office issued a disaster message instructing residents to refrain from entering the underground parking lot and evacuate to a safe place.
Once all remnants and smoke are removed, the fire department will work with the police to determine the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
