Goyang City Adjusts Village Bus Fare
Adult card fare from 1,450 KRW to 1,650 KRW
Teen fare increased by 150 KRW, child fare by 100 KRW

‘Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 13th that it will increase the village bus fare by 200 KRW based on the adult card fare starting with the first bus on the 25th.’

This adjustment, confirmed after a review by the Goyang City Consumer Policy Committee on September 25, will be implemented to coincide with the Gyeonggi-do city bus fare adjustment on October 25.

The adjusted fares are: ▲ Adults from 1,450 KRW to 1,650 KRW (a 200 KRW increase), ▲ Teenagers from 1,010 KRW to 1,160 KRW (a 150 KRW increase), ▲ Children from 730 KRW to 830 KRW (a 100 KRW increase). These fares match the adjusted Gyeonggi-do city bus rates.

The city cited the consistent worsening of financial conditions for village bus operators due to rising transportation costs and decreasing ridership. Additionally, under the structure of the Capital Region Integrated Transfer Discount System, village buses are disadvantaged in revenue sharing, and a freeze in fares could intensify deficits.

A Goyang Special City official stated, “Since the Capital Region Integrated Transfer Discount System is applied, the additional burden on citizens’ transportation costs will not be significant.” The official added that utilizing the K-Pass, Climate Companion Card, and transportation subsidies for children and teenagers can enhance transportation cost savings.

“We will do our utmost to ensure stable public transportation operations to improve citizens’ convenience,” the official added.
