The Double Care Project Team from the Hoengseong Regional Self-Sufficiency Center has been selected as an excellent institution in the regional specialization project category during the performance evaluation of regional self-sufficiency centers conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Self-Sufficiency Welfare Development Institute for 2025. This was announced by Hoengseong County on the 8th, and as a result, they will receive an incentive of 7 million KRW.
The evaluation targeted 228 institutions nationwide, assessing 16 specific criteria such as participant self-sufficiency capacity improvement, project team performance, activation of self-sufficiency enterprises, expertise in center management, and regional community connection and cooperation. From this evaluation, 10 outstanding and 19 commendable institutions were selected.
The Double Care (Laundry) Project Team, located in Duwon-ri, Dunnae-myeon, operates with 8 self-sufficiency participants. It has gained attention for its unique business by providing laundry and management services for the specialized firefighting gear of firefighters, in collaboration with the Gangwon Fire Department’s Special Rescue Team located nearby.
Recently, it has also secured laundry contracts with the fire departments in Hoengseong, Hongcheon, and Pyeongchang, contributing to the safety and work environment improvement of firefighting personnel while providing stable jobs for self-sufficiency participants. This project is regarded as a necessary self-sufficiency initiative for the local community.
Lee Jae-jin, the head of the Hoengseong Regional Self-Sufficiency Center, stated, “The Double Care Project Team is meaningful as it creates practical outcomes that both locals and public institutions can feel, using nearby regional resources. It has simultaneously achieved the threefold effects of ensuring firefighter safety, supporting the economic independence of vulnerable groups, and strengthening cooperation with public institutions, thereby enhancing the sustainability of the self-sufficiency project.”
Hoengseong County Governor Kim Myung-gi commented, “The specialized firefighting suit laundry project is a representative cooperative model that protects the safety of firefighting personnel and contributes to job creation for self-sufficiency participants. We plan to expand the Hoengseong Regional Self-Sufficiency Center’s Double Care Project Team and discover various specialized projects to improve the quality of life for county residents, encouraged by securing this incentive.”
