Heavy rain advisory in effect across Seoul… 29 rivers and roads under the Jeungsan Bridge closed

[Financial News] Due to heavy rainfall in Seoul, many city streams have been closed.

According to the police and the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 13th, access to all 29 streams in the city, including Cheonggyecheon and Anyangcheon, has been blocked due to heavy rain that started early in the morning. The road under the Jungang Bridge has also been closed since 6:40 AM.

A heavy rain advisory was issued for the northeastern, southwestern, and northwestern areas of Seoul at 6:30 AM.

The city has issued level 1, the “caution” stage, related to the rainfall situation and has begun emergency work. A total of 355 city officials and 3,110 employees from 25 autonomous districts are on duty in preparation for the heavy rain. Additionally, 31 rainwater pumping stations, including the Magok 2 Pumping Station, are in operation.

The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that a heavy rain advisory was in effect at 6:30 AM for the northeastern, southwestern, and northwestern areas of Seoul.

The affected areas are Nowon-gu, Seongbuk-gu, Jungnang-gu, Gwangjin-gu, Dongdaemun-gu, Dobong-gu, Gangbuk-gu, Seongdong-gu (northeastern area), Gangseo-gu, Gwanak-gu, Yangcheon-gu, Guro-gu, Dongjak-gu, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Geumcheon-gu (southwestern area), Eunpyeong-gu, Mapo-gu, Seodaemun-gu, Yongsan-gu, Jongno-gu, Jung-gu (northwestern area).

A heavy rain advisory is issued when the rainfall is expected to be 60mm or more over 3 hours, or 110mm or more over 12 hours. Please be cautious of accidents like valley water or stream flooding, as rain can soak you up to your knees even with an umbrella.
