Hae-deurak Care Hospital and Busan Disability Support Center Sign Agreement to Establish Care for Individuals with Severe Disabilities

Cheongsong Medical Foundation’s Haettarak Nursing Hospital and Social Welfare Corporation’s Gakkum Welfare Busan Disability Activity Support Center recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) focused on establishing a community-based integrated care and medical linkage system for people with severe and most severe disabilities.

The MOU primarily aims to support the independent living of people with disabilities in the community, enhance medical accessibility and health management for people with severe disabilities, and create an integrated care model specialized for severe disabilities that transitions from hospitalization to treatment, discharge, and reintegration into the community.

The two organizations plan to jointly design and operate a continuum of care system, where the center handles home care during normal times, and the Haettarak Nursing Hospital provides specialized medical and rehabilitation services when medical needs arise, followed by support for a swift return to the community.

This collaboration between the welfare foundation and the medical foundation is significant as it exemplifies a private sector-led initiative that sets a standard model in the absence of institutional implementation in the era of integrated care.

A representative from Haettarak Nursing Hospital stated, “The key is to create a structure where care and treatment are continuous so that people with severe disabilities can return to the community stably after hospital treatment. Through this MOU, we will establish a practical, field-centered integrated care model.”

A representative from the Busan Disability Activity Support Center said, “Through close cooperation with medical institutions, a structure has been established to simultaneously protect the health rights and independent living of people with disabilities. We will continue to expand cooperation to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.”
