Convicted child sex offender Cho Doo-soon, who was indicted on charges of violating the law on attaching electronic devices, has been released from prison upon completion of his sentence for violating the night-time outing restriction order by going out without permission. According to reports on the 19th, Cho Doo-soon, who was serving his sentence at Suwon Prison, was released at around 8:05 a.m. on that day and handed over to probation officers. Usually, inmates are released around 5 a.m., but Cho Doo-soon’s release was slightly delayed due to additional procedures related to the attachment of electronic devices. Last year on December 4th, Cho Doo-soon was charged with going out without permission for about 40 minutes from his residence in Danwon-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi Province. During that time, he wandered around the neighborhood near his residence and was reported to have returned home only after the Ansan Probation Office probation officer dispatched to the scene upon receiving a violation alert from the CCTV monitoring center. Regarding his unauthorized outing, Cho Doo-soon stated that he went out after arguing with his wife. He was ultimately arrested and sentenced to 3 months in prison for violating the law on attaching electronic devices, as he was prohibited from going out at night until December 2027. Cho Doo-soon had previously been sentenced to 12 years in prison for kidnapping a first-grade elementary school girl and sexually assaulting her in a restroom in Danwon-gu, Ansan, in December 2008. After serving his sentence, he was released in December 2020. Upon his release, the court ordered Cho Doo-soon to comply with special conditions, including the prohibition of night-time outings, alcohol consumption above 0.03%, access to educational facilities, and contact with the victim within 200 meters of their residence.
