Gyeonggi Province, provincial medical association leaders discuss response system for the implementation of the ‘Integrated Care Support Act’

Monthly Continuous Communication to Build ‘Gyeonggi-do Style Home Care Medical System’ – On the 17th, Gyeonggi-do government hosted a ‘Medicinal Organization Leaders Meeting’ led by Vice Governor Kim Seong-jung, to discuss cooperation on establishing home medical care infrastructure and response systems in preparation for implementing the Integrated Support Act for medical, nursing, and community care services, as announced on the 18th.

The meeting included prominent figures from the medical community such as Lee Dong-wook, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Medical Association, Jeon Seong-won, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Dental Association, Lee Yong-ho, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Oriental Medicine Association, Yeon Je-deok, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Pharmacists Association, and Kim Jeong-mi, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Nursing Association, along with Yoon Jeong-wook, Head of the National Health Insurance Service’s Incheon-Gyeonggi Regional Office, and Kim Tae-seong, Head of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service’s Southern Gyeonggi Office.

The Integrated Support Act, designed to create an environment where communities can enjoy a healthy aging process through the linkage of medical, nursing, and care services, will be implemented on March 27th next year.

In preparation, the province shared policy directions for Gyeonggi-do and organized a communication platform for local medical organizations to discuss cooperation methods in advancing policies like establishing home healthcare infrastructure.

During the meeting, Professor Lee Geon-se of Konkuk University Medical School presented on the ‘Achievements and Tasks of Care Medical Policy,’ while Professor Lee Hye-jin of Bundang Seoul National University Hospital discussed the ‘Current Status of National Care Medical Policy Projects.’ They also shared visions related to the province’s care medical system policy and discussed collaboration plans with medical organizations.

Lee Dong-wook, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Medical Association, emphasized the need for more detailed system support and enhancements for the implementation of home care medical services and committed to actively collaborating with Gyeonggi-do to build a home medical care infrastructure centered around local medical institutions.

Kim Seong-jung, Vice Governor of Gyeonggi-do, highlighted that home care medical services are key directions for care and medical policies in an ultra-aged society, emphasizing the essential participation and cooperation of medical organization leaders for successful policy implementation. He stressed that Gyeonggi-do will strive to develop a leading model and build infrastructure for care home medical services.
