Five individuals, including a man in his 50s referred to as Mr. A, have been arrested by the police for selling and mediating methamphetamine transactions.
The Jinju Police Station in Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 12th that they have detained Mr. A and four others on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. Mr. A is accused of selling 1.5g of methamphetamine to Mr. B, through an intermediary, Mr. C, on four occasions from January to February this year.
Mr. B has been detained for selling 1.5g to Mr. D, and Mr. E has been detained for selling 0.7g to Mr. D. Mr. B, Mr. D, and Mr. E are also charged with using methamphetamine at their residences. Among those arrested, Mr. E is in his 60s, while the others are all in their 50s.
The police arrested Mr. B on February 18th, and subsequently arrested Mr. D, who had purchased methamphetamine from Mr. B, on February 20th on a street in front of a residence in Ulsan. At the time of Mr. D’s arrest, he was found to be in possession of 3.36g of methamphetamine.
Continuing their investigation upstream, the police apprehended three additional individuals by the 14th of last month, ultimately detaining all five arrested.
The police stated, “We are continuing a focused crackdown on drug-related crimes until June 30th of this year’s first half.” They added, “During this period, investigations are concentrated on online drug distribution, medical narcotics in clinics and hospitals, vulnerable areas such as entertainment districts and areas densely populated by foreigners, and illegal cultivation of poppy and marijuana.”
Additionally, they emphasized that “the identities of those reporting drug-related crimes will be thoroughly protected, and rewards for reporting will be provided.”
