Eumseong County Establishes 125 Future Strategies for Achieving Sustainable Development

Chungju Province, Eumseong County has announced the establishment of future strategies aimed at realizing sustainable development. On the 4th, Eumseong County held a final report meeting in the main conference room of the county office, where they outlined the basic and implementation strategies for sustainable development. The meeting presented 59 detailed goals and 125 action tasks aligned with the 17 sustainable development goals.

Key detailed goals include building a support system for people with developmental disabilities, expanding the distribution of smart farm technology, providing digital and non-face-to-face healthcare services, operating regional lifelong learning centers, expanding renewable energy infrastructure, increasing youth employment, nurturing new growth industries such as semiconductors and secondary batteries, establishing the Eumseong Museum, creating a resource recycling circular economy city, and expanding resident participation in local government affairs.

Monitoring needs were identified for tasks such as renovating sewage pipelines, promoting balanced development in underdeveloped areas, expanding rural lifestyle social overhead capital (SOC) complex facilities, enhancing waste treatment facilities, and creating ecological natural spaces. Long-term consideration tasks include water resource development projects, endangered species protection projects, and biodiversity conservation education programs.

Eumseong County plans to disclose the detailed goals and action tasks for sustainable development on the county office’s website and review the sustainability of each issue to integrate it into future policies. Eumseong County Mayor Cho Byeong-ok stated, “This future strategy for sustainable development will present a unique vision for Eumseong County and serve as a compass for planning the direction and future of the next 20 years for the county.” He emphasized strengthening communication with residents by setting up channels that are easy for residents to understand and participate in, to enhance the spread and consensus on the Eumseong-type sustainable development system.
