‘A police official’s post regarding singer Kim Ho-jung, who has been arrested on charges of drunk driving and hit-and-run, has become a hot topic due to his false excuses and actions related to the incident.
On the 26th, a post that appeared on the Blind, an anonymous online community for professionals, spread across various community sites. The post with the title ‘Ho-jung, it’s not like that with the police!’ is speculated to have been written by a current police officer at the National Police Agency. This post is currently deleted.
The person who wrote the post, Mr. A, stated, “I wonder why he kept lying when the situation could have been resolved by offering a settlement and receiving punishment for drunk driving as it should be. How distorted the investigation must have seemed in the eyes of the police for him to continue lying like that.” He also mentioned, “Even if the alcohol level is not detected after some time has passed, by checking the CCTV at the drinking location, and even if there is no footage, if those who were with him are called as witnesses, 9.9 out of 10 will spill the truth. Maybe the high-priced lawyer he hired was whispering advice to him.”
Furthermore, Mr. A expressed, “It seems like the police and prosecution underestimated things too much. Of course, the police do not have a good external image, but the fact that a local police investigative team secured evidence within a day or two, proceeded with the case at full speed, and even applied for an arrest warrant from the beginning to the end indicates that all the investigators were devoted and each handled their own part of the investigation. Simply put, this means they were very furious.”
Mr. A also mentioned that supportive posts for the Gangnam Police Station were posted on the police’s internal bulletin board, and about 100 comments supporting the lead investigators were made.
Kim Ho-jung was involved in an accident on a road in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu around 11:40 p.m. on the 9th after colliding with a taxi on the opposite side of the road while driving under the influence. Following the accident, his agency’s CEO, Lee Kwang-deok, is accused of instructing Kim Ho-jung’s manager to make a false confession and the head of the agency, Mr. Jeon, is accused of removing the black box memory card from Kim Ho-jung’s vehicle, including evidence destruction.
After conducting an inquiry into the suspects, Judge Shin Young-hee at the Seoul Central District Court issued arrest warrants for all three individuals due to concerns of evidence destruction.’
