Some attendees of the Cabinet meeting coordinate attendance schedule
On December 12, the police are expected to apply for arrest warrants for Cho Ji-ho, the Commissioner of the National Police Agency, and Kim Bong-sik, the Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, who are accused of conspiring in a rebellion related to the December 3 martial law incident. On the night of December 3, about three hours before martial law was declared, they allegedly met with President Yoon Seok-yeol at the presidential residence in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and received preemptive instructions related to the martial law.
The Special Investigation Team of the National Police Agency’s National Investigation Headquarters, headed by Woo Jong-soo, plans to apply for arrest warrants for Commissioners Cho and Kim within the day. Previously, on the 10th, the police summoned them as suspects for questioning on charges of rebellion and urgently arrested them the following early morning.
Regarding the unsuccessful raid on the presidential office the previous day, the National Investigation Headquarters stated that they would continue to negotiate for voluntary submission. On the previous morning, they deployed 18 investigators for the raid, but due to the presidential security office’s demand for prior consultation, they ended up in a standoff for over six hours and could only obtain some materials through voluntary submission. It was also confirmed that the police have coordinated the summoning schedules with some of the 10 people, excluding President Yoon, who attended the cabinet meeting during the martial law, including Prime Minister Han Deok-soo.
