Choi Sang-mok, the Acting President, issued an urgent order today (14th) to relevant departments to swiftly carry out initial quarantine measures following the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease at a cattle farm in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Acting President Choi instructed the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to ensure thorough initial quarantine efforts, including swift culling, access control, inspection, and disinfection.
He also directed thorough management to ensure the nationwide temporary suspension of movement for cloven-hoofed animal farms and livestock vehicles, which is being enforced until 8 AM on the 16th, is properly implemented to prevent horizontal transmission.
Furthermore, he ordered that the scheduled foot-and-mouth disease vaccination for next month be advanced and completed by the 31st of this month, and he requested a careful on-site inspection to ensure proper implementation of the foot-and-mouth disease quarantine measures.
