A rapper in his 30s, who couldn’t quit drugs even after serving a prison sentence, again…

[Herald Economy = Kim Seong-hoon] A rapper in his 30s, who had already served a prison sentence for cannabis charges, has been sentenced to imprisonment again for facilitating the sale and smoking of cannabis.

On the 10th, Incheon District Court’s Criminal Division 15 (Chief Judge Kim Jeong-heon) announced that rapper A (33) was sentenced to two years in prison on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act for cannabis.

Last October, A was accused of facilitating a drug transaction by contacting a drug supplier via mobile messenger, receiving 20 grams of cannabis for 3 million won in cash in a restroom of a building in Gangnam, Seoul, and delivering it to an acquaintance.

In the same month, he was also accused of buying and smoking 10 liquid cannabis cartridges for 1.6 million won at a music studio in Songpa, Seoul. In November, he smoked cannabis at the studio or on the street.

He had previously been sentenced to one year in prison in August 2023 for cannabis charges and reoffended during the repeat offender period.

The court stated, “Drug-related crimes not only deteriorate an individual’s physical and mental health but also cause severe negative impacts on society as a whole by triggering other crimes, and thus must be dealt with sternly.”

However, the court also explained the reasoning behind the sentencing by stating, “The defendant acknowledges all his wrongdoings and is remorseful, and has vowed to quit drugs.”
